Admission Process

Step I               Evaluate MCS Profile


Basic information on our school, the Montessori method of education, and our fundamental curriculum is available in our printed brochure or on our website at www.jacksonvillemontessori.com. A review of this material will make your subsequent visit to our school and contact with the teachers much more meaningful and relevant to your child’s needs.


Step II              Tour/Classroom Observation


Our school is open from 8:15am to 2:45 p.m. A tour can be scheduled by contacting the office at 910-938-3826.


Step III             Application


Parents/guardians should complete the application for admission and submit to the school office.


Step IV             Interview


Parents/guardians and perspective students will be scheduled for a personal interview with the School Directress and a Classroom Directress to further discuss the commitment to the Montessori philosophy. We value evidence of parental cooperation and support. Our greatest goal is for the family to have a full understanding of the working of the classroom and the school.  MCS requests academic records from any school a child may have previously attended.  Enrollment decisions are made only after that information is received.


Step V              Admissions


Parents will be contacted by mail regarding our admission decision. If a position is offered, we will continue with the admissions process in Step VI.


If a place is not immediately available, you may wish to be placed in our wait group. We occasionally experience drops through the year and urge parents to remain in the wait group.


If after reviewing applications, we feel it is unlikely that we will find a place for your child, we will inform you at that time.


If it is our judgment that your child would have a difficult time in a Montessori environment, we will inform you after the interview.


Step VI             Acceptance

An acceptance letter with an enrollment contract and request for annual school fee payment is mailed to the family. The contract should be reviewed, signed and fee payment sent to the school office by the assigned due date.


Step VII            Enrollment Paperwork


Once payment is received and you have secured the space for the student, a packet of required enrollment forms will be forwarded to you. Completed forms are due prior to the start of school.
